Factor 1: Vehicle Weight and Scrap Metal Price
The foundation of every junk car offer is the vehicle's curb weight multiplied by the current scrap steel price per pound. This is the minimum a vehicle is worth as recycled metal — regardless of condition. The scrap steel price fluctuates based on commodity markets and typically ranges between $0.05 and $0.09 per pound in Georgia.

Beyond scrap weight, specific components add meaningful value. The catalytic converter is the most impactful single component — it contains platinum, palladium, and rhodium recovered by recyclers. Engine assemblies, transmissions, and AWD components are assessed based on demand from independent repair shops and rebuilders.

Factor 3: Condition Assessment
Vehicle condition affects which components can be valued as parts versus scrap metal. The table below summarizes how different conditions impact the final offer. No condition makes a vehicle worthless — the scrap weight provides a floor value regardless of damage.

Factor 4: Title and Ownership Status
Title status affects the administrative complexity of the transaction but has minimal impact on the offer amount. A clean Georgia title is ideal. A salvage or rebuilt title does not reduce the offer. No title (bill of sale) is accepted for qualifying vehicles under Georgia law — this may reduce the offer slightly on some higher-value vehicles to account for additional paperwork risk.

Weight data source: Vehicle weights are sourced from manufacturer specifications. Actual curb weights vary by trim, options, and model year.
No remote assessment for all components: Some component values (specific interior electronics, body panels, glass) are assessed in person at pickup. Quotes may be adjusted at pickup only if the vehicle description differs materially from what was stated at the time of the quote — not as a routine negotiating tactic.
